2021 Judicial Conference Program
Judiciary Clerk Work Group • Completed drafting Judiciary Clerk CORE proficiencies. • Sequenced CORE modules per job behavior. • Grouped behaviors into modules and associated behaviors and proficiencies to individual lessons within modules. • Identified initial Judiciary Clerk CORE design plans. Goals and Initiatives for the Upcoming Year • Complete the Judiciary Clerk CORE design plan in preparation for CORE development. • Send behaviors and proficiencies for review by an independent evaluation panel. • Revise judiciary clerk behaviors and proficiencies based on the comments from the independent evaluation panel. • Begin development of the Judiciary Clerk CORE, a course that all newly-appointed courtroom clerks will complete as foundational awareness, knowledge, and skills to execute the job responsibilities with proficiency. Supervisor/Manager Work Group • Developed and held executive overviews for leadership to provide both an overview of Supervisor & Manager CORE and guidance on how to support staff in successfully completing CORE. • Created a hardcopy brochure and online outline of Supervisor & Manager CORE for leadership to provide staff in preparation for the rollout of CORE. • Launched Supervisor & Manager CORE in March 2020. • As a result of COVID-19, converted the Supervisor & Manager CORE from a hybrid program to an entirely distance learning format. • All face-to-face requirements have been restructured. • Kickoff workshops have been replaced with a series of on-demand short (approximately 3 minutes) videos and optional FAQ Zoom sessions. • Post-Cluster workshops have been converted from one-day face-to-face classes to 90-minute Instructor-Led Distance Learning (ILDL) sessions using Zoom. • For each cluster, there are three post-cluster workshop sessions. Learners will select two of the three sessions to attend. • Cohorts have been reduced from eight to four cohorts and the participants rearranged for each cohort based on MDEC roll out and other priorities of the Judiciary as a whole. • A new program launch schedule was developed for each cohort with guidance from the work group. • Countdown to CORE, a series of strongly recommended, asynchronous activities leading up to the start of a cluster, have been designed to acclimate participants to CORE in replace of the kickoff workshops. • Collaborated with Judiciary web masters to create a resource repository, facilitate updates, and increase access to CORE resources. • Hired contractual trainer to develop and facilitate the ILDL post-cluster workshop sessions. • Began collaborating with Judiciary webmasters to place all CORE lessons and resources on the Judicial College website to allow supervisors and managers on- demand access to CORE materials after completing the self-paced online course in Canvas.
