While there, he held leadership roles in organizations such as the Real Estate Law Association and the Student Bar Association. He also gained valuable insight and experience while representing low-income clients in various tax controversies through the University of Baltimore’s Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic. With a strong background in financial analysis, real estate development, and private equity, combined with experience in corporate acquisitions, real estate transactions, and business succession planning, Alexander is well-equipped to offer practical, business-oriented solutions to our clients. Alexander is admitted to practice in Maryland, Washington, D.C., U.S. Tax Court, U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. In Alexander’s free time, he enjoys spending time with his dog Rudy, attending concerts, trying new restaurants, and hitting the slopes.

BRIAN L. DELEONARDO, Associate Judge , Carroll County Circuit Court, 5th Judicial Circuit. Judge DeLeonardo was appointed and took office as an Associate Judge of the Circuit Court for Carroll County on July 15, 2021. He is currently a Circuit Court Board Member on the Maryland State Commission on Criminal Sentencing Policy since 2022. Judge DeLeonardo is also a Member of the Maryland Judiciary’s Equal Justice Committee since 2022, and in 2023 he became a Member of the New Trial Judge Mentoring Subcommittee. Prior to taking the bench, Judge DeLeonardo was the elected State’s Attorney for Carroll County from January 5, 2015 until July 14, 2021. He also served as interim State’s Attorney from December 1, 2014 until January 5, 2015. From 2004 2014, Judge DeLeonardo was the Managing Partner of DeLeonardo, Smith & Associates, LLC. From 2001-2004, he was a Supervising Assistant Attorney General at the Maryland Attorney General’s Office, and from 1997-2001, he was a Senior Assistant State’s Attorney with the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office. Judge DeLeonardo graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law and was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1996. Following graduation, he was a Judicial Clerk to The Honorable Charles E. Moylan, Jr. for the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland. Judge DeLeonardo provided instruction for over 20 years on legal issues related to arson investigation for the National Fire Academy, the International Association of Arson Investigators, the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms and Explosives, and the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute. He has also provided instruction for over 20 years on legal issues related to search and seizure, expert witness testimony, and criminal trial matters to a wide variety of police and prosecution agencies. In addition, from 2004-2014, Judge DeLeonardo served as an adjunct professor at the University of Baltimore School of Law. Judge DeLeonardo also previously served on various commissions and boards. Judge DeLeonardo was President of the Maryland State’s Attorneys Association from January 2019 through February 2021. In January 2016, he was appointed by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan to serve as Chair on the Maryland State Commission on Criminal Sentencing Policy and he served in that role until July 2021. In December 2017, Judge DeLeonardo was appointed by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan as Chair of the Governor’s Council on Gangs and Violent Criminal Networks and was in that role until July 2021. In August 2018, Judge DeLeonardo was appointed as Chair of the State Prosecutor Selection and Disabilities Commission and served until July 2021.
