GINA HANSON brings over two decades of relentless dedication to the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, where she began her journey in January 1998 as a Fiscal Accounts Clerk. Her career took a pivotal turn in October 2001 upon her transfer to the Commitment Department, igniting a passion and commitment that would define her professional life. In recognition of her exceptional skill set and leadership potential, Gina was promoted to supervisor in February 2023. Through hard work and dedication, she climbed the ranks in the Commitment Department and was appointed as the Executive Deputy Director beginning in March 2024. Her journey highlights not only her technical expertise but also her unwavering dedication to public service, making her a valued leader in the department.

LISA A. HALL JOHNSON was appointed to the District Court of Maryland by Governor Martin O’Malley on July 2, 2013, and was reappointed by Governor Wes Moore in July 2023. Since January 2017, she has served as the Administrative Judge for the Prince George’s County District Court. Prior to her appointment to the District Court, Judge Hall Johnson was the Director of Litigation for Washington Gas Light Company. She was responsible for managing all litigation involving the utility and its subsidiaries, as well as advising and reporting directly to the General Counsel. She began her legal career as an associate in the Washington, DC office of McDermott Will & Emery, an international law firm, where she specialized in energy regulatory matters and complex civil defense. Desiring more trial experience, Judge Hall Johnson then joined the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office as an Assistant State’s Attorney. After gaining valuable experience there, she returned to private practice at the Washington, DC office of Dickstein Shapiro, LLC, where she concentrated her practice on the policyholder-side insurance coverage matters involving long-tail environmental claims and civil defense matters, including complex multi-district federal litigation. Judge Hall Johnson received her B.A. from the University of Virginia with a double major in Economics and Sociology. She received her J.D. from Duke University School of Law, where she received the Duke Law Advocacy Award, was the first African American woman to serve as the chairperson of the Moot Court Board, and served as staff editor of the Duke Environmental Law and Policy Forum. Judge Hall Johnson is committed to public service. She is an active member of various local and specialty bar associations, including the Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA), the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association, and the Prince George’s County Bar Association. Prior to taking the bench, she volunteered for and served as an advisor to successful local political campaigns, and as a member of the Obama Campaign Law and Policy Committee. Judge Hall Johnson is a member of the Prince George’s County Chapter of Jack and Jill, Incorporated, and she is a founding member of the Willow Oak (MD) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated. Judge Hall Johnson has been recognized by many organizations. She has received the National Bar Association’s Nation’s Best Advocate Award in 2012; the Prince George’s County Social Innovation Fund Forty Under 40 Award for Public Service in 2012, the MSBA Young Lawyers Section Pro Bono Service Award in 2012; the Maryland Legal Aid, Equal Justice Associate’s Award in 2011; Dickstein Shapiro Core Values Award in 2010; the Maryland Daily Record Top 100 Women award in 2013, 2016, and 2018; the VIP Award in 2016, the Circle of Excellence in 2018, and the Leadership in the Law award in 2021; the American Bar Association Judicial Division National Conference of Specialized Court Judges, William R. McMahon Award for significant implementation of technological advances in a court of limited jurisdiction; and the MSBA Litigation Section Harrell Award for Judicial Excellence (“Judge of the Year Award”) in 2023.
